We reported a few days ago, as well as earlier today that HP Elite X3 is a high-end smartphone powered by Windows 10 Mobile, which will be able to run desktop apps with the help of a laptop accessory called mobile extender and the HP Workspace application. A few more details have just been revealed by The Inquirer in an in-depth article that hasn't been published yet, but it's now accessible in the Google Cache. According to the cited source, the HP Elite X3 will feature a metal case, but the design isn't yet final, so it's unclear if the phablet will pack a metal body in the end.

There has been some confusion as to whether or not the Elite X3 comes with a fingerprint sensor since the pictures leaked a few days ago do not show one on the smartphone. Well, it looks like the device showcased at MWC 2016 is just a prototype, but the final version will come with both fingerprint sensor and iris scanner. The same goes for the smartphone's water resistance features, which are not yet available for this prototype, but HP confirmed that the Elite X3 has been built to meet the IP67 standard.

Other specs confirmed include a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit and 4GB of RAM. At the back, the phablet is said to pack a 16-megapixel camera with LED flash and 4K video recording capabilities, while in the front there should be an 8-megapixel camera. The Elite X3 will be powered by a massive 4,150 mAh battery, which apparently will last “a full day, in the full sense of a full day,”according to HP. Although the HP Elite X3 comes with 64GB storage inside, only 45GB user available are accessible with a further 9.66GB of that already used by apps.

The good news is the phablet comes with hybrid dual-SIM support, which means you can either insert a second SIM card (nano SIM) or a SD memory card for more storage.
