Pokemon Go players can try to 'Catch 'em all,' but not all can catch 'em.

That is a rather convoluted way of saying that Windows Phone users will not be receiving the official version of the game that everyone is still talking about. It's been nearly two weeks since we first told you about a petition that was put up on demanding that game developer Niantic produce a version of Pokemon Go for Windows 10 Mobile.

While the petition has drawn 89,332 signatures to date, we haven't heard a peep from Niantic. But there might be good news for those rocking a Windows Phone flavored handset. A developer named ST-Apps is said to be working on a third party app that will allow users of the platform to find and catch Pokemon. He posted a proof of concept revealing what his version of Pokemon Go might look like. It doesn't have some of the AR features of the real game, but it still allows users to blindly criss-cross the country looking for pocket monsters.

But the developer is running into a problem. He is too busy with another project at the moment to launch the app, and he is worried about the legalities involved. Also on his mind is Niantic's servers. He expects them to be encrypted soon, which would put the kibosh on his third-party Pokemon Go app for Windows Phone. The developer says that next month, if Niantic's servers haven't been securely scrambled, he will consider releasing an open source version of the game.
