Google Chrome Adding Clearer 'Not Secure' Warning For Certain Sites

Google Chrome is growing its warnings on HTTP sites and it'll initially roll out a new "not secure" label in the URL bar on sites that collect passwords or credit card numbers.

The label is included in the Chrome 56 beta. Eventually, the browser will place that warning on any site not using HTTPS encryption.

Warning users about the security of sites encourages webmasters to adopt HTTPS. Google says it has recorded an increase in the use of HTTPS.

This Chrome update also includes support for the CSS "position:sticky" command, enabling certain parts of a page to always remain at the top of a display. Google's example of this feature is with an article that has a sticky title.

Beta users can access this version on Windows, Mac, and Android. It'll be out for everyone around January 2017.
