In December 2013, former Oppo vice president Pete Lau and Carl Pei founded OnePlus, a company that made a name out of launching affordable smartphones with high-end specs. To celebrate its 2 year anniversary, OnePlus has released a Champagne Edition of the OnePlus X.
OnePlus X is no doubt one of the best budge smartphones currently available on the market which brings an impressive hardware platform at a price tag of $250. The handset is available in most markets in black and silver color schemes. Now an OnePlus X Champagne Edition has debuted to mark 2 years of OnePlus existence.
The OnePlus X Champagne Edition will be initially released on the European markets, but it’s believed that the China-based company will also make it available on other markets too. It’s a bit interesting that OnePlus chose Europe as the first home of the new OnePlus X Champagne Edition, as the gold phones are especially popular in Asia.
Most sources say that the Champagne Edition will also debut in the US, but, for the time being, there’s no official confirmation from OnePlus. As you might have guessed already, on the inside, the OnePlus X Champagne Edition is identical to the Ceramic and Onyx variants.
The new color option is a variation of the Onyx OnePlus X, so it’s priced at €269. If you are reading this from Europe, you will be able to order the OnePlus X Champagne Edition right away, of course, if you have an invitation. If not, the smartphone will be available on Tuesday, when OnePlus will hold its weekly OnePlus X open sales.
As a refresher, OnePlus X arrives with a 5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection, quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB RAM, 16 GB storage, microSD support up to 128 GB, and a 2,525mAh battery. It has a 13 MP main cam with f/2.2 aperture, phase detection autofocus, and 4K UHD video recording, 8 MP selfie cam, and it runs OxygenOS which is an Android 5.1.1-based custom ROM.
