Rumors, leaks and benchmark tests have been seen recently for the Huawei Mate 9, the sequel to the Huawei Mate 8. The latter was launched in December 2015. The Mate 9 is rumored to launch some time later this year, apparently with the company's Super Charge battery and charging system in tow. This allows the battery on the Mate 9 to charge up to 48% after just 5-minutes plugged in.
On Sunday, a picture that claims to show the chassis for the Mate 9, opened up a box of possible specs for the device. Earlier this year, Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang said that the Mate 9 would be equipped with a pair of 20MP cameras on back of the device. The image of the leaked chassis displayed the two cameras on the back cover, along with a fingerprint scanner
Jiutang also said that the Mate 9 would be powered by the home grown Kirin 960 chipset. The component, built using the 16nm process, will reportedly contain an octa-core CPU using ARM's new Artemis cores. The chip supports LTE Cat. 12 and CDMA networks.
Once the phone is certified by TENAA (China's equivalent to the FCC) we should get a good look at the unit's specs. A recent visit to GFXBench credited the Mate 9 with specs that obviously belonged to a different handset.
