Chinese handset maker Xiaomi won't be launching its next flagship smartphone in late February, 2017, as initially expected. The company announced for the first time its current flagship, the Mi 5, at MWC 2016 trade fair.

Unfortunately, that won't happen next year, rumors coming from China claim. It appears that the main reason for the Xiaomi Mi 6's delay is the fact that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset won't be ready until February.

The Snapdragon 835 processor is expected to power a couple of flagship smartphones to be launched in 2017, including the Samsung Galaxy S8.

If the chipset won't be ready in Q1 2017, then the Galaxy S8 and other phones using the Snapdragon 835 might be delayed into April.

In fact, there are already rumors running around that Samsung might have delayed the release of the Galaxy S8 to April, but no additional details on the matter was given.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is now expected to be released on the market in April 2017, but the announcement could still go live in late February at MWC 2017 trade fair.

Single or dual-lens camera?

Obviously, there's no way to tell whether or not these rumors are true. In fact, we suggest our readers to take with a grain of salt, as all the rumors regarding Xiaomi's products.

Although previous reports claimed the Xiaomi Mi 6 will pack a dual-camera setup on the back, a recent picture showing a prototype of the phone packed a single lens camera.

So, it's still unclear if the Mi 6 will come with a single or dual-lens camera after all, but what's certain is the fact that the prototype unit shown in the image leaked might look different than the final product.
