The BLU Vivo XL2 drops by the FCC, launch imminent

Fans of the BLU Vivo XL will be pleased to know its successor should be launching in the very near future. The BLU Vivo XL2 has been certified by the FCC, usually one of the last steps before receiving an official unveiling, revealing a notable design shift away from its predecessor the BLU Vivo XL.

There’s unfortunately not much detailed information to be found in the FCC filing, just the images of the rather nondescript device we’ve shown here, its name and the fact it runs Android. Other rumored BLU Vivo XL2 specs include a 5.5-inch display, undisclosed MediaTek chipset, 3,150mAh battery, microSD expansion and a single camera and flash on the back.

The images at the FCC look a lot like the Vivo XL2 will have a glossy polycarbonate finish and there’s still a speaker grill at the bottom edge on the back. Capacitive buttons still appear on the front of the device and while the bezels may look quite thin, remember BLU surrounded the display of the Vivo XL with a black border.

In our review of the BLU Vivo XL2 we found the device to offer excellent battery life with close-to-full support for U.S. LTE frequencies. The punchy AMOLED display was a standout but the device was let down by a few performance bugs, weak camera and low-resolution. At just $149 though, it offered solid basics for a low price.
