Shortly after announcing the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update rollout for unlocked One M8 variants earlier this month, HTC will begin rolling out the Marshmallow update for unlocked One M9 starting today. The info was shared online by Mo Versi, Vice President of Product Management on his official Twitter handle.
The executive revealed the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be able to be downloaded within the next 24 hours in the US. He also revealed in the tweet that the company will begin pushing out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the unlocked One A9 units as well. Like the One M9 Marshmallow update, the 6.0.1 update for the One A9 will also be available for download to users within the next 24 hours. Unfortunately, he didn’t mention anything about the release timeframe for the unlocked One M9 and One A9 units in regions outside US. Still, it is likely that the update for unlocked One M9 and One A9 units outside US will also begin receiving the update before the end of the year.
So if you own an unlocked HTC One M9 or One A9 in the US, you may expect to receive an update notification on your smartphone very soon. In most cases the update notification should pop up automatically, but if it doesn’t you can always check for the update manually. To do so, tap on Settings – About Phone – Software Update and begin check for the update. But before you download the update, we recommend that you first connect to a Wi-Fi network in order to avoid high data charges, especially if you are on a limited data plan.
