The two renders published by the leakster seem to have a lot in common with the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro handsets unveiled earlier this year. The wallpaper too appears to be identical, which raises a red flag too.

As we mentioned above, the render appears to be more or less identical to the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, with similar rounded corners and pretty thin bezels on the sides of the smartphone. Instead of capacitive home buttons on the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro, the Mi 5 sports a physical home button on the front, which will most likely house the fingerprint scanner as well. The second render showing the bottom of the Mi 5 reveals two speaker grilles and a USB Type-C port placed right between them.

Now let’s move on to the rumored specs of the flagship smartphone. According to the leakster, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature a 5.2-inch sized display with either 1080p or 1440p Quad HD resolution. Under the hood, the Mi 5 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is definitely no surprise at all. Two variants are likely – one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage, and a second more expensive variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard memory. The rear camera will boast of 16 megapixel resolution, while on the front the smartphone could pack a highly impressive 13 megapixel selfie shooter. Battery capacity is claimed to be 3600mAh, with support for Quick Charge 3.0. Finally, the handset will also sport a USB Type-C port, as mentioned earlier. These specifications are more or less similar to previously rumored specs, so at least some of them are likely quite accurate.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be released in Q1 next year but it could be delayed to April if rumors of Samsung having secured exclusivity rights over Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset until April are true.
