Samsung Galaxy S7 Will Reportedly Come in Three Different Screen Sizes

The report claims to have received the info from ITSKINS, a smartphone accessory maker that recently published 3D renders showing the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and the Galaxy S7 Plus versions. The regular Galaxy S7, successor to the current Galaxy S6 will come with a flat 5.1” display. The Galaxy S7 Edge is said to feature a 5.5” dual curved edge display, and the Galaxy S7+ will apparently sport a large 6.0” sized display. The Galaxy S7+ will be the only model to be offered with both a flat and a dual curved edge display option. So basically, we are looking at four Galaxy S7 models – 5.1” Galaxy S7, 5.5” Galaxy S7 Edge, 6.0” Galaxy S7+, and the 6.0” Galaxy S7+ Edge.

While we do believe the report may be quite accurate, we still suggest taking the above info with a grain of salt. In a recently published report, South Korean publication Electronic Times’ sources suggested the Galaxy S7 will be launched in two screen sizes – 5.2” and 5.5”. The regular Galaxy S7 was claimed to come with a 5.2” flat display while the Galaxy S7 Edge would arrive with a bigger 5.5” sized display. Samsung has reportedly planned to make 3.3 million units of the flat Galaxy S7 and 1.6 million units of the 5.5” Galaxy S7 Edge for the initial first batch.

In terms of design, all the Galaxy S7 variants are expected to sport a very similar design, as can be seen in the leaked schematics and renders. Samsung hasn’t paid much attention to making major changes to the current design, so the Galaxy S7 models will look more or less identical to the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge/S6 Edge+. One of the more significant differences is expected to be the curved back on the flat-screen Galaxy S7 models, similar to the curved back of the Galaxy Note 5. That should help improve ergonomics, like it does on the Galaxy Note 5.

We expect Samsung to unveil at least the regular Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge models at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in February, with sales likely to kick off starting early March in some markets.
