This tutorial is intended to teach how to access your computer when you have forgotten your password. You can use another available administrator, password reset disk, or sign in to Windows without password.
Note: This method only works on a computer with multiple users.
Method 1
Accessing the Locked Computer by Another Administrator

On Windows login screen, switch to another available administrator. If your computer has Windows 7 installed, just press "Ctrl + Del + Alt" and click "Switch User" to switch to another user. If your computer has Windows 8 installed, on Windows login screen, just click the arrow on the left of user image, and there will be a list of all users available on Windows 8. Choose one administrator account whose password you remember.

Type password and press "Enter" to access your computer.

Option 1: Use the administrator to change the forgotten user password

Sign into Windows computer with another administrator account as shown in the first method.

Navigate to Control Panel to change other users’ password. For example, on Windows 7 computer, go to Control Panel – User Accounts and Family Safety – User Accounts – Add or remove user accounts.

Choose one account whose password you want to change or remove.

Click “Change the password” or “Remove the password”. If you choose “Change the password”, type the new password and confirm it. When you choose “Remove the password”, click “Remove Password” again to confirm that you want to remove it.

Set new password for this user account. (Optional)
Option 2: Reset forgotten password with reset disk

Upon typing an incorrect password while tying to access your computer, a message link "Reset Password" will appear on the login screen after the password input box.

Click the link and follow the password reset wizard.

Click "Next" and insert the password reset disk you have created. Choose the option "password reset key disk" and click "Next".

Follow the instructions on your screen and the type new password for this user and finish password reset.
Option 3: Reset forgotten password with Command Prompt

When you are able sign in to Windows computer with another administrator, click Start, and run Command Prompt. For example, on Windows 8 computer, press Windows + X, and click on Command Prompt (Admin) and then "Yes".

In the Command Prompt, type: "Net User
Common Step: Sign in to Windows Computer with new password

After you have changed or reset Windows password, restart your computer.

On the Windows login screen, choose the user whose password you have reset and enter the new password to login.
Method 2
Access Computer without Password

Get a Windows password recovery tool. Find Windows Password Genius on Internet and download the trial version.

Install and run Windows password recovery tool on another computer. When your computer is locked, please find another available computer prepared for Windows password reset disk creation.

Insert bootable USB or CD/DVD to create a reset disk. After inserting bootable USB into computer, choose media type USB and choose password reset disk burning disk. Click "Begin burning" to start creating password reset disk into USB drive. When you see "Successfully burning" pops up, exit USB reset disk from available computer and plug it into locked computer.

Start your computer. Enter BOOT Settings Option by pressing boot key when computer starting. Boot key is different for different computers. Next, choose Boot option and move USB drive or “Removable Devices” to the first place of boot list. Third, save boot changes by pressing F10.

When computer boots from USB successfully, Windows password recovery tool will run too. Choose Windows and select the user whose password you want to remove. Click "Reset Password" button and Yes to set its password to blank.

Eject the USB from computer before it reboots.

The last step is to reboot computer and you can access computer without password.
