One of the key features of the Nextbit Robin is its unique cloud storage model that utilizes 100GB storage in a hybrid model that, up until now, was like nothing we’d seen before. Now it seems that Acer is taking a page from Nexbit’s playbook with the Liquid Jade 2, while bumping up the cloud storage to a whopping 1TB.
Acer doesn’t detail exactly how its 1TB cloud storage will work, or if the integration is up to the same par as Nextbit’s Robin, but they do claim it will “seamlessly integrate” with the local storage. As for the rest? We’re looking at an upper mid-range device that’s powered by a Snapdragon 808 with 3GB RAM and 32GB local storage. There’s also a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 21MP main cam with dual-LED flash, an 8MP front cam, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Certainly not bad specs, in a package that would have been considered almost flagship level just last year. Of course, Acer isn’t revealing any details on pricing just yet.
In addition to the impressive sounding Jade 2, Acer also announced the Liquid Zest, a much more modest device that is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz processor (likely MediaTek) with a 5-inch 720p display. Other specs include an 8MP main cam, 5MP front cam and LTE with a price tag of €149.
The Jade 2 and Liquid Zest are both anticipated to arrive starting in April, so we’ll be sure to bring you more details as they hit.
