Back in January, two GFXBench benchmark tests were found for a pair of Asus branded smartphones. A bit of common sense (which is quite uncommon these days) revealed these to be two Asus Zenfone 3 models. And that leads us to a pair of renders published today, for what is supposedly the Asus Zenfone 3 and Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe.
The Zenfone 3 has a thin aluminum design and features 2.5D glass on both the front and back of the handset. Speaking of the back, a protruding square rear-camera is flanked by a dual tone LED flash and a laser auto focus. A biometric scanner could also be included. Three capacitive function keys are found on the front of the phone.
The Zenfone 3 Deluxe is metal clad, and features the same oval home button used on theSamsung Galaxy S7 and other Galaxy S models. Both Zenfone 3 phones have a front-facing flash, and are equipped with the USB Type-C port.
The two benchmarked units that we told you about at the beginning of this year were given model numbers Z010DD and Z012D. The latter is most likely the Zenfone 3. According to the benchmark test, it will feature a 5.5-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution, and will carry the Snapdragon 650 SoC under the hood with 3GB of RAM and 32GB ROM inside. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 12MP/8MP, and Android 6.0 is pre-installed.
That means that the Z010DD should be the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe. This handset carries a larger 5.9-inch screen, with a lower 720 x 1280 HD resolution. The Snapdragon chipset will be under the hood, with 3GB of RAM on board.
The Asus Zenfone 3 and Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe will both be unveiled at Computex 2016. The annual trade show will be held from May 31st to June 4th this year.
