We already know that HTC will be holding an event on the 12th of April to announce its newest flagship – the HTC 10. The date has been announced, teasers have been posted, and leaks have been flying about like tomatoes at a karaoke contest. However, among the reports, there was a curious one stating that the HTC 10 will have a slightly cheaper variant, bearing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC under its hood, as opposed to the Snapdragon 820, which will be installed in the “main” unit.
While that sounds slightly crazy, there may be some merit to the rumor. ROM developer LlabTooFeR, who also happens to be a leakster with a pretty good track record, has posted that HTC will be releasing another smartphone alongside the flagship on the 12th of April. The codename for the mystery handset is A56 and it is, apparently, a member of the Desire line. The device will have single and dual SIM variants and that's just about all the leakster posted about it.
Now, the Desire family of devices tends to cover a wide range of classes, starting from entry-level, and stopping near the high-end, just before they cross the threshold from midranger to flagship. So, what kind of device this might be — we can't possibly know. Now, HTC did introduce the Desire 530, Desire 630, and Desire 825 at this year's MWC, those being an entry-level, a low-end, and a midrange device, so if the company is to announce another Desire, it just might be in the higher end of the midrange spectrum. It is possible that this mysterious smartphone, named A56, is actually the smartphone that will carry a Snapdragon 652 and that it's going to be a Desire smartphone, not a HTC 10 variant.
