It’s common practice for Samsung to release special editions of its flagships every once in a while. And since information on Samsung working on an Olympic Edition Galaxy S7 surfaced a few months ago, it now looks like images have finally leaked online.
Samsung is reportedly set to debut another special edition of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, dubbed Olympic Edition. Now, images of this upcoming smartphone have leaked online, thanks to Evan Blass. It only seems fitting that Samsung would launch such a special edition of its latest premium handsets, considering that the South-Korean company is a worldwide partner for Rio 2016 Olympics.
Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Olympic Edition indicate that the device will come in a black color variant with yellow trims in the speaker area and home button. Blue color accents are seen around the camera sensor and the heart-rate monitor on the back. As expected, the smartphone sports an Olympics logo in blue on the back.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Olympic Edition could be launched in late July
The Galaxy S7 Olympic Edition is expected to come with a Gear VR, and the company could offer the VR headset for free upon pre-order. The same deal was also presented to customers who pre-ordered the regular Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
This is not the first Samsung device to come with an Olympics special edition, as back in 2014, Samsung released the Galaxy Note 3 Olympic Games Edition.
The Galaxy S7 Olympic Edition is expected to sport the same specs as the regular Galaxy S7. This means that it will come with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, with Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890. Word is that it will also have 4GB of RAM, a 12MP rear camera, and a 3,000mAh battery, among other powerful specs.
The Olympic Edition could be launched in late July at the earliest, considering that the 2016 Rio Olympic Games start on August 5 and end on August 21. Surely, more information on the special edition is bound to surface over the coming weeks.
