As a solution, Microsoft recommends you use its Edge browser and it notes how much longer you can use Edge compared to other browsers.

The prompt was first reported by Rudy Huyn, a Windows Phone app developer, who was notified about Chrome's excessive battery usage. When asked about the tip, Microsoft said it began showing them in July and they will also appear for Firefox users.

In June, Microsoft demonstrated in a battery use test that Edge could outperform Chrome, Firefox, and Opera in some cases.
