This is what a 200-mph Volkswagen Beetle looks like

The Beetle LSR was built for a single purpose -- to become the world's fastest Beetle. Thanks to a massively revised version of VW's 2.0-liter I4 gas engine, with an at-the-wheels output of 543 horsepower and 421 pound-feet of torque, the LSR rockets its way to a top speed of 205.122 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

To ensure the driver keeps the shiny side up, the Beetle LSR also features special wheels and tires, a limited-slip differential, a stripped and caged interior, as well as a pair of parachutes to bring the car back to a standstill.

You're not going to get that kind of performance from a stock Beetle, which puts out just 210 horsepower and 207 pound-feet. The top speed is electronically limited to 130 mph, as well. Although, if you have a gargantuan pile of money and nothing to lose (like a factory warranty), you can whip a Beetle LSR up for yourself. Just don't try to reach these speeds on public roads.
